About Me.

Emma McLaren, The Paediatric Sleep Nurse

I’m Emma...a Certified Baby and Child Sleep Consultant, Paediatric Nurse with 16 years of experience, and a proud mother of three beautiful girls.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for babies and children in some of the world’s leading paediatric hospitals, including Manchester Children’s Hospital in England, Westmead Children’s Hospital in Sydney, and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital here in Adelaide.

My international nursing experience has given me a deep, practical understanding of children’s health and development, something I now bring into my sleep consulting practice. I combine clinical expertise with a gentle, family-centred approach to help parents navigate sleep challenges with clarity and confidence.

As both a healthcare professional and a mother, I truly understand the daily challenges you might be facing with your own baby. Bringing your little one home is such a special and joyful time, but it can also feel overwhelming and stressful. That’s why having the right support and guidance can be so valuable, helping both you and your baby get the best possible start on this journey together.

I became a sleep consultant after navigating my own journey through the early days of motherhood with little support and my family overseas. I know first-hand how deeply sleep deprivation can affect both your mental and physical wellbeing. It can lead to heightened stress, feelings of frustration or sadness, and make it hard to cope with daily life. For babies and children, ongoing poor sleep can impact emotional regulation, development, and behaviour.

When you’re exhausted, getting through each day and trying to be the parent you want to be can feel like a struggle, and it can feel lonely and isolating, but you’re not alone in feeling this way. I’m here to guide you with responsive, evidence-based sleep strategies that nurture the relationship between you and your child.

There’s No One-Size-Fits-All When It Comes to Sleep

Every child is beautifully unique, and so is every family, that’s why I don’t believe in generic sleep solutions.

I focus on connection, compassion, and practical care, taking a holistic view that supports not only your child’s sleep but also your wellbeing as a parent.

With over 16 years as a paediatric nurse working with children and families in vulnerable situations, I bring a calm, empathetic, and non-judgmental presence to every family I work with. I tailor my guidance to fit your parenting style, your child’s individual needs, and your family as a whole, offering realistic strategies that feel right for you.

Together, we’ll set achievable goals and introduce changes at a pace that feels comfortable. I’ll be there to provide steady support and practical approaches to help you create lasting sleep habits, bringing more rest, connection, and ease to your home.
